Plantanicals®

Project Overview

Plantanicals® is a haircare brand developed from a name-first concept, designed to deliver on the promise of being fully plant-based, sustainable, and inclusive. From the outset, the goal was to ensure that the meaning behind the name was clear and credible through packaging, formulation, and brand storytelling.

Brand Identity & Design

I began work on this brand in 2019 by conceptualizing its branding and identity, defining both the visual direction and the component shapes and styles that would set the foundation. The most recent product extension features brightly colored packaging made from 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) soft-touch material, reinforcing the brand’s sustainable positioning while ensuring shelf appeal.

Product Development

Working closely with production and development teams, I curated a mix of plant-derived extracts that would differentiate the line in a competitive market. Plantanicals® offers multiple shampoo and conditioner duos, each formulated with unique ingredient combinations designed to address a range of hair types and concerns. My role spanned from ingredient story development and formula positioning to packaging artwork and full product mix creation.

Market Presence

Since its launch, Plantanicals® has gained traction as a direct-to-consumer beauty line, while also drawing attention from major U.S. retailers for potential distribution. The brand’s holistic approach to sustainability and clean beauty has positioned it as a notable contender in conversations around eco-conscious haircare, resonating with both consumers and buyers alike.

Outcome

Through intentional design, clear messaging, and plant-based innovation, Plantanicals® has established itself as a modern, sustainable brand with strong growth potential in the clean beauty category.
